LB Kitchen (instagram) has applied for a liquor license. The restaurant is located at 249 Congress Street in the space formerly occupied by Figa.
Owners Lee Farrington and Bryna Gootkind plan to be open Monday through Saturday, 9am – 4pm serving breakfast and lunch. They hope to open in early November.
Here’s a look at part of the draft menu (pages 47-49) supplied with the license application (click to enlarge):
Whitecap Grille spot is off the market. http://portland.bangordailynews.com/2016/09/28/news/the-old-port-is-looking-more-and-more-like-the-mall/
I am sorry to see that the space isn’t going to a local retailer or restaurant.
Re: LB, seems like a curious decision to have a place only serving breakfast and lunch and not be open Sunday (as in there is only one day per week, Saturday, that anyone working M-F, 9-5 can go there), but hey, if were my business I’d try to get out of working Sundays too. Best of luck to them.
^^ It is certainly not easy trying to find work/life balance when you have small children. I wish them the best.
What’s up with Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Ethan Allen, and now West Elm going into the Oldport??! Tourists are not interested in these chain stores — and they aren’t going to buy a couch on vacation to take home with them! At least put back the LL Bean.
