Even when factoring in for the normal rapid base of developments in the Portland restaurant scene, there’s been a lot going on this spring. If you’re feeling like nearly every day there’s a new opening or news of another new business development, well that’s because that’s not far off from being the case.
To get caught-up and to see the scale of what’s been happening, here’s a summary of recent/upcoming opening:
- Opening later this week: Mesa Grande Taqueria (Wednesday), Twinflower Cafe (Thursday), Magissa (Thursday)
- Opened this past week: Hot Liquor Tank (a new Wharf Street pub from the owners of Mash Tun), Five of Clubs (a cocktail bar in newly opened Longfellow Hotel), Off Track Pizza (pizza, salads, sandwiches), and Mr. Tuna’s new restaurant on Middle Street.
- Opened Earlier in May: Model T Coffee (May 3rd), Luna Bangladesh Cuisine (May 8th), Low Key (May 9th), Oun Lido’s (May 9th), and The Garden (May 11th)
- Opened in April: Botanically Curious, Ocotillo, Smoked
And here’s a quick list of other business changes in Portland that have emerged in April and May:
- Sissle and Daughters is under construction in Woodfords Corner
- Liquid Riot was sold to Michael Fraser
- Stonewall is returning to Portland
- Bao Bao’s move to Brunswick and into the Tao Yuan space
- Thames Landing is taking over the Helm space
- Noble Pizzeria and Barbecue is under construction on Stevens Ave
- Yuri’s Desserts is under construction on Spring Street
- Foulmouthed Brewing was sold to a new owner
- Falafel Time, Pizza Joint, and Thai Esaan closed
