Hangover Cures
The Press Herald’s Meredith Goad has pulled together some hangover cures suggested by local restaurants.
Arlin Smith, the general manager at Hugo’s, discovered that if he added a perfectly poached egg, the Duckfat poutine makes an excellent hangover cure. The cure caught on, and now the whole staff swears by it.
“It fills your belly,” Smith said. “It’s got the grease that coats the lining of your stomach. It’s got the starches going. It’s perfect.”
Review of Rosie's
I Love Portland Maine has published a review of Rosie’s.
This unassuming; some may dare say, quaint restaurant and pub is famous for serving up some of the best fare in town. Whether your crew is craving fish and chips, sandwiches, a full pint, or even more exotic fare such as local sea food, no one will be disappointed. Even the vegetarian among you will find Rosie’s a haven of taste.

Chinese for Christmas
The Portland Daily Sun food writer Margo Mallar paid a visit to Saigon and Kon Asian Bistro as part of her Christmas day.
The soup was a delight to my gentile tastebuds but it was a Christmas gift that our pescatarian Jewish friend Rachel had to decline on two counts: treif and meat. \We were eating light so limited ourselves to Saigon Veggie egg rolls, steamed french beans, a sardine banh mi sandwich and a tofu curry entree. The portions were abundant, made with fresh ingredients and well seasoned. The homemade chili sauce alone is worth a return trip.
