October 8 – Oxbow is holding their annual Goods from the Woods event in Newcastle.

October 9 – Dandelion Spring Farm is holding a Harvest Feast. The meal will be a “Contemporary American style dinner influenced by Kristie Rudolph’s Korean American heritage. This multi-course dinner will be celebrating the best of seasonal produce along with local proteins.”

October 9 – the Maine Cheese Guild is holding Maine Open Creamery Day.

The Indie Chefs organization is returning to Maine in September for a series of 3 dinners that brings together Maine chefs with peers from Massachusetts, Connecticut, DC, Texas, South Carolina, California and New Hampshire. The dinners are scheduled to take place September 8, 9 and 11 at Tao Yuan/Zao Ze in Brunswick—tickets are now on sale.

The fun kicks off Thursday, September 8th, with the first Collaborative Dinner. Featuring half of the lineup, each cooking a course of their own showcasing their culinary aptitude, night one will be followed by the second dinner on Friday, September 9th featuring the other half of the roster. Sunday, September 11th, we wrap up the weekend with a Grand Finale collaborative evening, featuring all the chefs together for one incredible dinner, where each chef is paired up with a partner and given a key ingredient to incorporate into their dish. 3 nights of unique multi-course menus. All dinners will start at 6pm.

The dinners will take place outdoors in Brunswick to “ensure the well-being of the chefs and guests alike, at Zao Ze Café and Market”.

Indie Chefs was last in town 3 years ago for 3 nights of dinners featuring 22 chefs from Maine and away.

Wednesday – Radici is serving a 5-course dinner with pairings.

Saturday – the 91st Annual Saint Peter’s Bazaar.

Sunday – chef Susan Kim will be holding a Doshi Korean pop-up at Onggi.

Monday – Oga Suya is holding a Nigerian barbecue pop-up dinner at Fork Food Lab. Little Brother is throwing a party at Fork Food Lab, “[w]e invite you to eat, drink, watch the old Chinese movies we’ll be projecting on the wall outside our HQ, and dance to a special guest DJ set of Asian soul/funk/psychedelia curated by Dad’s Denim.” Onggi is hosting Yao Yao (Liu Bian Tan, Alana Dao, Matthew Im) for a midday pop-up.

June 29 – Gulf of Maine Research Institute CEO Don Perkins will sitting for a live interview with the Press Herald.

July 1 – it’s the opening day of Fake Restaurant #2 at the Washington Baths. The month long pop-up will be “slinging traditional ((and not-so-traditional)) versions of Greek cuisine” on Fridays and Saturdays during the month of July.

July 14 – KitNA is holding a tasting event at their West Bayside location.

The 2022 edition of Maine Apple Camp is taking place this August 19 -21.

The weekend-long event is run by MOFGA and is a chance to learn about “innovative orcharding methods, identifying and preserving heritage varieties, foraging wild fruit, cider making and lots more”.

Monday – The 2022 Beard Foundation Awards gala is taking place in Chicago. Five Maine chefs and restaurants are contenders for this year’s awards. Leeward is a nominee in the Best New Restaurant category, Atsuko Fujimoto, Norimoto Bakery is a nominee in the Outstanding Bakery category, and three Portland chefs are nominees in the Best Chef Northeast category: Vien Dobui from Công Tử Bột,Courtney Loreg from Woodford Food & Beverage, and Damian Sansonetti from Chaval. Portland Food  Map is also in Chicago to attend the awards. We’ll report out here and on Instagram if our home town favorites win an award.
