Wednesday – the Monument Square Farmers’ Market is taking place.

Friday – it’s the opening day of the 2018 New England Food System Innovation Challenge at Saint Joseph’s College, and Rosemont is holding a wine tasting at their West End location.

Saturday – Space Gallery is screening the movie Brewmaster, there will be a wine tasting at LeRoux Kitchen, and  the Deering Oaks Farmers’ Market is taking place.

SundayStars & Stripes Brewing is holding the Grand Opening of their tasting room in Freeport, Two Fat Cats is teaching a pie baking class, and friends of the late food writer Claire Z. Cramer will be gathering at Tiqa to remember her and her life.

Saturday – 10 local oyster farms and companies will be competing in the Jumbo Oyster Jam at Oxbow, and  the Deering Oaks Farmers’ Market is taking place.

Thursday – there will be a Mast Landing tap takeover at Bao Bao, The Great Lost Bear is showcasing the beer from Hidden Cove, Rosemont is holding a wine event focused on Grower Champagne, Chaval is holding a Portuguese wine dinner, and Woodford F&B is collaborating with Allagash on a benefit for The Locker Project.

Friday – there will be a 5-course wine dinner at Hugo’s with Randall Grahm of Bonny Doon Vineyards.

Saturday – the Deering Oaks Farmers’ Market is taking place.

Sunday – Two Fat Cats are teaching a kid’s Halloween Cupcake Decorating class.

Lunch Ladies

The Forecaster has published a report on the Lunch Ladies event taking place this weekend,

Brandi Haaf and Lonnie Stinson, owners of Crepe Elizabeth, are launching Lunch Ladies of Portland on Sunday, Oct. 21, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The event will take place from noon-5 p.m. at 219 Anderson St., and feature several woman-owned food trucks from around the area. Ten percent of all sales and 100 percent of the money from specialty items sold will go to the Maine Breast Cancer Coalition.

WednesdayMaine & Loire is holding a tasting of wines from Lipari Island, and the Monument Square Farmers’ Market is taking place.

Friday – Slovenian winemaker Jean-Michel Morel of Kabaj Winery will be at the Cape Elizabeth Rosemont for a wine event, there will also be a regular wine tasting at the Rosemont on Brighton. Jean-Michel Morel is visiting the US in part to receive a Wine and Spirits Top 100 award for his orange and amphora wines.

Saturday – Maine Craft Distilling is holding a Maine Harvest Celebration, there will be a Highroller pop-up at The Shop, and the Deering Oaks Farmers’ Market is taking place.

Sunday – two food truck gatherings are take place: Flea Bites in Congress Square Park and Lunch Ladies of Portland on Anderson Street, Allagash and Big Tree Hospitality (Hugo’s/Eventide.Honey Paw) are holding an event at the brewery, and Bow Street is holding their monthly Sunday night wine seminar.

WednesdayDrifters Wife is collaborating with Tail Up Goat from DC on a 5-course wine dinner, and the Monument Square Farmers’ Market is taking place.

Thursday – The Great Lost Bear is showcasing beer from Cushnoc Brewing.

Friday – monks from America’s only Trappist brewery, Spencer Brewing, will be at the Bier Cellar (3-5) for a tasting, and at Novare Res (5-7) for a tap takeover.

Saturday – Novare Res is celebrating Cantillon Zwanze Day, and the Deering Oaks Farmers’ Market is taking place.

Sunday – 20+ restaurants (Evo, Chaval, Little Giant, Woodford F&B, Purple House, etc), caterers, food producers and wine distributors are collaborating on Pigs & Pink – “Chef-Driven, Pig-Inspired Goodness paired with a Rosé round-up from Maine’s finest wine distributors” –aka a pig roast with a lot of rosé and good food taking place at Broadturn Farm. The event is organized by and a benefit for Full Plates Full Potential, an innovative organization dedicated to eliminating child hunger in Maine.
