The June edition of Pocket Brunch took place today at Bresca and the Honey Bee in New Gloucester. Krista Kern Desjarlais and Erik Desjarlais were guest chefs for the picnic themed meal.

  • Premeal – financier with plum and goat ricotta, and bacon-wrapped Deuben-dog in a blanket of deviled eggs accompanied by cucumber, dry gin and Aperol cooler
  • Snack Board – Hahn’s End Blue, York Hill Capriano, Fermin Salchichon Iberico, Wild Boar cacciatorini, Fermin Chorizo Iberico accompanied by UFF’s Buchanan Hard Cider
  • Lunch Basket – buttermilk fried chicken, fennel slaw, black Sabbathday potato salad, pickled watermellon accompanied by Oxbow Farmhouse Pale Ale
  • Sweet Basket – blueberry crumb pie with lemon buttermilk sherbert, and strawberry shortcake with basil ice cream accompanied by Twin Vines Vinho Verde

Tandem Coffee was also on-hand with pour overs and their wonderful malt ice coffee.

Wednesday — the Bier Cellar is holding a tasting with North Coast Brewing where they’ll be debuting a collaboration North Coast did with Deschutes Brewing and Rogue, Black Tie is catering a Graze Farm Dinners at Pineland in New Gloucester, and the Monument Square Farmers Market is taking place.

Thursday — Cultivating Community is holding their first Twilight Dinner of the season, it’s the first day of the Greek Heritage Festival, Blue Rooster and Portland Hunt & Alpine Club are collaborating on a New England Summer Dinner, Bard is holding the monthly Latte Art Throwdown, there will be a wine and cheese tasting at the Public Market House, and The Great Lost Bear will be showcasing beers from Greenflash Brewing.

Friday — Five Fifty-Five is celebrating their 10th Anniversary with a 10-course wine dinner, it’s the second day of the Greek Heritage Festival, Rising Tide, Bunker Brewing, Urban Farm Fermentory and Tandem are coordinating on June’s Last Friday event (noon to 7pm) in East Bayside. Love Cupcakes will be at Rising Tide and Small Axe will be at Bunker.

Saturday — the 5th Annual Strawberry Festival is taking place in Cape Elizabeth, it’s the last day of the Greek Heritage Festival, and the Deering Oaks Farmers Market is taking place.

Sunday — the June edition of Pocket Brunch is taking place, Krista Kern Desjarlais and Erik Desjarlais are the guest chefs for Pocket Picnic. Tickets for the June Pocket Brunch sold out in less than 2 hours.

Tuesday — a Local Foods Networking Breakfast is taking place at Local Sprouts.

Wednesday — Wine Wise is leading a Sparkling Wine Walk, Black Tie is hosting the first of their Graze Farm Dinners at Pineland in New Gloucester, and the Monument Square Farmers Market is taking place.

Thursday — The Great Lost Bear will be showcasing beers from The Festival, there will be a wine tasting at Aurora Provisions, El Corazon will be the featured food truck at Rising Tide, and Bier Cellar is hosting Prairie Artisanal Ales from Oklahoma and Allagash for a pre-Festival tasting.

Friday — the first tasting session of The Festival is taking place, Allagash is holding a Victoria Ale premiere party at the Victoria Mansion, and Sebago is releasing the 2013 edition of their Single Batch Series beer, Hop Swap.

Saturday — the next two tasting sessions of The Festival are taking place as is the 9th Annual Vegetarian Food Festival and the 2nd Annual Maine Hot Wing Cook-off Challenge, Mainely Burgers will be the featured food truck at Rising Tide and the Deering Oaks Farmers Market is taking place.

Sunday — the 8th Annual Taste of the Nation is taking place, Rising Tide is hosting a Brewers Brunch to celebrate the bottle launch of their new beer Lyra, Hugo’s is the featured restaurant at Flanagan Farms in Buxton, Nosh and Oxbow are teaming up to put on the NoshBow Block Party on Oak Street.

Hot Wings, Taste of the Nation, GMO Labeling

MondayOakhurst Dairy is pairing up with 5 local food trucks to celebrate National Ice Tea Day. Bite into Maine, Love Cupcakes, Mainely Burgers, Gusto’s and Portside Picnic will be handing out free Oakhurst ice tea all day.

Wednesday — the Monument Square Farmers Market is taking place.

Thursday — Fisherman Danny Eilersten and scientist Kevin Stokesbury will give a talk at GMRI on the Georges Bank scallop fishery, there will be a wine tasting at the Public Market House, and The Great Lost Bear will be showcasing beers from Allagash.

Friday — GMRI is holding a backyard fish fry catered by Susan’s Fish & Chips.

Saturday — Bite into Maine, Gustos, Mainely Burgers, El Corozan, Love Cupcakes, and Pretty Awesome St Food will be at Portland Flea for All for Flea Bites—a monthly street food festival in Bayside, Browne Trading is holding a wine tasting and the Deering Oaks Farmers Market is taking place.
