Taco Land
The program for the Maine Garden Show’s Meet the Chefs program indicates that new Mexican restaurant slated for York Street is going to be called Taco Land. It was originally thought that Taco Land was going to be located at the old spot for the Icehouse but it now looks like it will be just down the street where Harbor View Pizza used to be.
Papou's Kitchen, etc
Papou’s Kitchen is now open for business. They offer a short menu of gyro and falafel wraps.
I was in the Old Port today for lunch at Paciarino (an excellent meal of goat cheese ravioli) and spotted this Stop Work order in the window of Wasabi, a new sushi restaurant (not) being constructed at 7 Exchange Street.
John Robinson, who sold Hugo’s to Rob Evans in 2003, is revamping Finch’s, his Falmouth restaurant, as Johnny’s Bistro & Bar.
Coffee Anyone?
A new coffee shop is going in at 183 Middle St, right adjacent to Tommy’s Park and across the street from the old Pavilion. There’s no word yet on when it will open or even what the name of the store will be.
A Few Additions
The meal assembly business Make Thyme for Dinner, and Where is Jenner’s Mind, a blog, have been added to the map. Also a new Brazilian/Indian restaurant going in on Congress St has been added to the Under Construction list.
Interview with Rob Evon
Port City Life interviewed Rob Evon, the administrator of Port City Music Hall, for the January/February edition of the magazine (article not available online). Port City Music Hall is scheduled to open in mid-January.
The Corner Luna
Portland Psst! has posted information on the new restaurant named Luna Rossa going in at 188 Middle St and on a new Harding Smith venture called The Corner Room.

Portland in a Snap has published an update on the Port City Music Hall. According to the owner, PCMH will be opening in mid January.

Wasabi
A liquor license application has been filed with the City Council for a new sushi bar named Wasabi. The owners plan on building Wasabi at 7 Exchange Street in a portion of the space now occupied by Betsy’s.
