Portland in a Snap has a report on a number of new eateries that are under construction in the Old Port: Bard Coffee Roasters, Luna Rossa, Wasabi, The Corner Room and The Farmer’s Table.
Category: Under Construction
Chickens, Pearls, etc
The Portland City Council is scheduled to meet Wendnesday night. Urban chickens are on the agenda (link is to a large PDF) as is a liquor license for Pearl, a bar that’s proposed for the former location of Onyx, revisiting the vote on the Cactus Club, as well as liquor licenses for The Farmer’s Table and Typerwriter Tavern. Paperwork submitted to the city confirms that Jeff Landry is behind The Farmer’s Table and includes a draft menu (see page 120 of the agenda).
The Farmer's Table
Portland Psst! is reporting that a new restaurant called The Farmer’s Table is slated for 205 Commercial Street at the old Mims location.
Taco Land
The program for the Maine Garden Show’s Meet the Chefs program indicates that new Mexican restaurant slated for York Street is going to be called Taco Land. It was originally thought that Taco Land was going to be located at the old spot for the Icehouse but it now looks like it will be just down the street where Harbor View Pizza used to be.
Papou's Kitchen, etc
Papou’s Kitchen is now open for business. They offer a short menu of gyro and falafel wraps.
I was in the Old Port today for lunch at Paciarino (an excellent meal of goat cheese ravioli) and spotted this Stop Work order in the window of Wasabi, a new sushi restaurant (not) being constructed at 7 Exchange Street.
John Robinson, who sold Hugo’s to Rob Evans in 2003, is revamping Finch’s, his Falmouth restaurant, as Johnny’s Bistro & Bar.
Coffee Anyone?
A new coffee shop is going in at 183 Middle St, right adjacent to Tommy’s Park and across the street from the old Pavilion. There’s no word yet on when it will open or even what the name of the store will be.
A Few Additions
The meal assembly business Make Thyme for Dinner, and Where is Jenner’s Mind, a blog, have been added to the map. Also a new Brazilian/Indian restaurant going in on Congress St has been added to the Under Construction list.
Interview with Rob Evon
Port City Life interviewed Rob Evon, the administrator of Port City Music Hall, for the January/February edition of the magazine (article not available online). Port City Music Hall is scheduled to open in mid-January.
The Corner Luna
Portland Psst! has posted information on the new restaurant named Luna Rossa going in at 188 Middle St and on a new Harding Smith venture called The Corner Room.
Port City Music Hall
Portland in a Snap has published an update on the Port City Music Hall. According to the owner, PCMH will be opening in mid January.
