Isa(facebook, website) is opening for business tonight. Owners Suzie St. Pierre and Isaul Perez have a number of years experience working in restaurants in New York City. It’s billed as a “cozy neighborhood bistro serving an eclectic yet seasonally driven menu“.
The restaurant is located at 79 Portland Street just a couple doors down from Back Bay Grill. Isa will be open 6 days a week Wednesday through Monday. They’ll initially be serving just dinner but plan to eventually be open daily 11am – close.
Update: The Golden Dish has published a first look post on Isa.
First off, Congratulations to Isa for opening. The menu looks great, the space is appropriate, and this should buoy an already optimistic area.
Secondly, this ‘first look’ thing is getting old. I understand that buzz is great and being the first means something. Ironically this was positive press but the fact that JG can’t even hit the focus setting on his phone or a circa 2000 digital camera makes the food and drink look like garbage.
Maybe this is just an extension of him being playful within his blog but as with similar PPH blogs and features, this continues to show a sense of amateurism within food writing and critique.
Just back from dinner and drinks and Isa and I must concur with John Golden. Isa is heavenly. Wonderful dishes with well thought out flavor combinations and fresh local ingredients. Great attention to detail and superb execution. Only open three days but Isa is purring on all eight cylinders. To all the wannabes, this is a true bistro!
Perhaps JG needs to take a photography class from Nicole Wolf who shoots with Joe Ricchio on his Maine Magazine restaurant reviews. The best food photographer around in my opinion.
