The Borealis Breads Bakery & Bistro is scheduled to open today. Governor Baldacci will be on hand for a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 am.

Maine Roasters and Freaky Bean Split Up
Maine Roasters Coffee and Freaky Bean Coffee Co., which merged their operations late last year, have now decided to go their separate ways. According to an article that appeared in The Forecaster, the original owners of Maine Roasters Coffee bought back the business in mid-November.
Slainte's Liquor License
According to a report in today’s Press Herald, the City Council voted last night not to renew Slainte‘s liquor license. The bar can appeal the decision to the state.
Bibo’s Madd Apple Cafe
Type A Diversions has reviewed Bibo’s Madd Apple Cafe.

Wine & Cheese Tasting
An additional wine tasting has been added to this week’s calendar. There will be a wine and cheese tasting at the Public Market House on Friday at 4:30.

On Monday the next Piatto per Tutti cooking class is being held. Governor Baldacci will be on hand for the grand opening at the new Borealis Breads on Tuesday. There are 6 wine tastings scheduled this week: at Old Port Wine Merchants on Wednesday, at Downeast Beverage, Browne Trading and Leavitt & Sons on Thursday, at Rosemont on Friday and at Kitchen & Cork on Saturday. There’s a showing of the movie The Garden at SPACE Gallery on Thursday. Also on Thursday, Vignola is hosting a Holiday Ale Night and The Great Lost Bear is showcasing holiday themed brews.
