Sam Hayward, chef at Fore Street is scheduled to speak at the Maine Literary Festival November 9 in Camden. Also on the program is Melissa Kelly from Primo, Ruth Reichel from Gourmet, author Michael Ruhlman, food columnist Molly O’Neill and professor Ardis Cameron.
The Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club has posted an explanation (“we don’t all live close enough to meet for breakfast each and every week anymore.”) for their six month silence on the toast, eggs and coffee to be had in Portland. They do promise to restart writing reviews “hopefully sometime in the near future”.

Tuesday Bar Lola is holding a Grenache wine dinner. There will be wine tastings at Black Cherry Provisions on Thursday and Leroux Kitchen on Saturday. Thursday night The Great Lost Bear is showcasing the beer of Gritty’s. Frog and Turtle’s 2nd annual Halloween Bash is Friday night. The 15th annual Brewer’s Festival is taking place on Saturday. On Saturday evening you can join the Indian Association of Maine to celebrate the Diwali Festival of Lights in Cape Elizabeth. As usual, Farmers’ Markets are taking place in Monument Square on Wednesday and at Deering Oaks Park on Saturday.
