According to a report from Eater Maine, a new wholesale business called Maine Pie Line (facebook, website) is under development at 200 Anderson Street in East Bayside. Baker Briana Warner will be preparing “Unique sweet and savory pies made with local Maine ingredients”.
El Tipico Now Open
El Tipico, a new Dominican restaurant, has opened on 539 Deering Ave in the space formerly occupied by StarEast Cafe. The owner is Julio Vinas. The restaurant opened a week and a half ago on Saturday, September 14.
Two other changes worth noting on outer Forest: Euro Market has closed and Al Huda has changed its name to Babylon.

Wednesday — The Well is hosting a French wine dinner, Black Tie is catering a farm dinner in New Gloucester, the Makers Market is taking place at the Urban Farm Fermentory in the afternoon and the Monument Square Farmers Market is taking place in the morning.
Thursday — the local chapter of Engineers Without Borders is holding a wine and beer tasting event.
Friday — Maine Craft Distilling is holding a launch party for their newest spirit, a blueberry moonshine called Blueshine.
Saturday — the Deering Oaks Farmers Market is taking place.
Sunday — the local chapter of American Sommelier is holding the first in a series of wine seminars. This first class will focus on viticulture, vinification and tasting.
More Than Honey — the Cumberland County and Sacopee Valley Beekeepers Clubs are hosting this screening of the movie More Than Honey on October 4 at the Portland USM campus. Tickets are available online.

Maine Beer Tours is running an Indiegogo campaign to crowd source funds needed to replace their tour bus. So far they’ve raised $2,524 of a $4,500 goal and have 2 days left in the campaign.

The Maine Sunday Telegram has published a review of Boone’s.
Boone’s Fish House & Oyster Room is a great addition to Portland’s list of seafood restaurant options. With (limited) on-site parking, two outside decks and a cavernous interior that manages to feel intimate despite its depth, this is the place to go for downtown seafood.
Oscar’s Now Open
Oscar’s New American opened this past Friday. The restaurant is located in Yarmouth in space formerly occupied by the Sea Grass Bistro. Chef/owner Nick Krunkkala was formerly the chef at Fog Bar and at Rock City Cafe in Rockland.
