Lobsters on the Fly
In today’s Press Herald there’s an article about a new lobster cookbook titled Lobsters on the Fly. Proceeds from the sale will go to the Maine Lobstermen’s Association to help Maine fishing families in need.
Back Bay Grill
Type A Diversions revisited Back Bay Grill and has written a new review for it.

Single Serving Corry
Chef Steve Corry was interviewed in Single Edition, a website “that embraces the culture of single living” (via Main Food & Lifestyle). Corry is quoted in the article saying, “The way we see it is that if someone is willing to come in alone to dine with us then he/she has an elevated level of expectation that we will strive to exceed. Single diners are immediately viewed as friends of the restaurant so to speak.”
This Week’s Events
The next Piatto per Tutti cooking class is taking place on Monday. There are a pair of events for beer fans taking place on Tuesday. Novare Res is holding a Trappist beer tasting and Bar Lola is holding a beer dinner. There will be a wine tasting at RSVP on Wednesday and a wine and cheese tasting at Public Market House on Thursday. Thursday night The Great Lost Bear is showcasing the beer of Cape Ann Brewing. Thursday through Saturday there’s a pre fixe truffle dinner on the menu at Cinque Terre. The last regularly scheduled Farmers’ Markets of the year are taking place in Monument Square on Wednesday and at Deering Oaks Park on Saturday. The new issue of Maine Home + Design includes an article about this Summer’s meeting of Deathmatch. This comes just a few days after Port City Life published an article on the same topic. Neither publication has posted their articles on the subject online.
Miss Portland Diner

A new blogger has joined Marya on Accidental Vegetables. Ravinder Kingra is writing a weekly post on mixed drinks. Last week he wrote about a bourbon and tripple sec mix named The Baby Sadie in honor of his niece. This week’s creation is a pear brandy martini called the Barbara Bush.

November Bollard
The November issue of The Bollard is out and this month’s edition includes a new installment in The Land of the Forgotten Cocktail series by award-winning bartender John Myers. Myers writes about the history of the word cocktail as well as providing background and mixing instructions for the Ward 8, Between the Sheets and Alaska. Copies of the newspaper can be found just about anywhere free newspapers are distributed.
