Savoring Maine Calendar

South Portland photographer Stacey Cramp has published a 2009 calendar called Savoring Maine. Each month features one of Cramps beautiful photos and a recipe from a Maine “food expert”. Jay Villani from Local 188 provided the parsnip and leek tortilla recipe for March and Abby Harmon from Caiola’s contributed the apple salad recipe for the month of October. The calendar on sale at Rabelais Books on Middle Street.

Haven’s Candies is holding an open house on Monday morning. Monday evening, the Audubon Society’s book club is meeting to discuss Banana: The Fate of the Fruit that Changed the World, and the next Piatto per Tutti cooking class is taking place. There will be wine tastings at Old Port Wine Merchants on Wednesday and Leavitt and Sons on Thursday. Thursday night, The Cheese Iron is teaching a class on Fall cheeses, and The Great Lost Bear is showcasing the beer of Victory Brewing. On Saturday, the Audubon Society is holding their Apple Day celebrationFarmers’ Markets are taking place in Monument Square on Wednesday and at Deering Oaks Park on Saturday.
