The Golden Dish has published a review of Maria’s Ristorante.
I wasn’t expecting to be wowed by my dinner at Maria’s but rather I was in the mood for classic Italian American cooking. Unfortunately my curiosity went unheralded at this relic from a bygone era.
There exists a demographic that is wary – even frightened – of Portland’s surge of culinary innovation. Maria’s endures because it is one of the few remaining familiar menus some folks can take comfort in… and that they probably paid all their notes a long time ago, thus making their margins better than anyone else. But I was happy I wasn’t picking up the tab the one and only time I dined here.
