Construction crews are making big strides in completing renovations at Hugo’s. The restaurant announced last week on Facebook that they’re now taking reservations for dates starting on July 8.
Several other businesses on the Under Construction list have been sharing photos and status updates recently:
- The Portland & Rochester Public House has posted a set of construction photos.
- Black Cat Coffee has posted a photo of the newly painted space.
- Carman’s has posted a set of 15 construction photos and news that they’ll be sourcing their coffee from Matt’s/Speckled Axe.
I see that b.good burgers on Exchange St. is not listed as under construction. Did they back out?
As far as I know they’re still going in on Exchange Street. There has been some hold up on the changes to the front door of the building, see

The amount of business they would have to do to survive in that space and compete with five guys, I just don’t know. Hugo’s setup is looking pretty sweet
I talked to them during the Old Port Festival — they’re not planning on being open until the third week in August. And I’m betting that their organic everything food can give Five Guys a good run for the pocket money of Old Port hamburger consumers.
I love that they have one of my friend Eric Hopkins paintings hanging there.
