Pat’s Pizza is planning on opening a new location in Portland on Market Street in the former location of Market Street Eats. Pat’s has 11 locations throughout Maine. The restaurant traces its roots back to 1931 when C.D. “Pat” Farnsworth opened a restaurant in Orono. For a full accounting of upcoming restaurants take a look at the Under Construction List.

I just was telling somebody a few weeks ago that I’m shocked they hadn’t openend back up in Portland since the closing of the one years ago on Forest Ave. It has to be more than just the old Market Street Eats location. Since Paradiso closed they must be combining a bunch of space. On a side note, Pat’s traces it’s roots back to 1931 but the first pizza in Maine is Angelone’s, 1947. Jack Angelone taught Pat how to make pizza and Pat was kind enough for years to put in the Bangor area phone books “When in the Portland area, go to Angelone’s”.
Not exactly food food, but Cold Stone Creamery in the Old Port has closed and there is a for lease sign on it. Prime location for something good I hope.
You must be right about the space. The floor blue prints provided with he liquor license application show layouts for 3 floors: basement, 1st floor, 2nd floor.
